Price Hike in Electricity Tariffs Need Extra Money

At a time like this, its no wonder that many Singaporean are angry that the Utility company, Singapore Power, has decided to increased electricity tariffs by 21.5% in the last quarter of this year. Despite all the strong protest or comments on the daily newspaper, the company is adamant that it will go ahead as planned. This means everyone of us will be forking out extra money to pay for the bill.

There are many ways for you to save some electricity but it is a matter of whether you want to do it or not. 7. Ventilate your room frequently to minimize use of fan or air-conditioner
8. When using air-conditioner, keep the doors and windows tightly shut. Clean the AirCon. filter regularly.
9. You can skip the pre-wash cycle of your washing machine if your clothes are not particularly dirty.
10. Turn off all appliances on Standby-Mode every time you leave the house or before going to bed.
11. Use energy saving bulbs ( CFL – Compact Fluorescent Lamp ). They last much longer and use less electricity.
12. Use fluorescent lights in place of bulb ( it generate more heats )
13. Iron all your clothes at one go, whenever possible
14. Check your electricity bill at regular interval to understand how much electricity your household consumes.
15. Avoid unnecessary use of decoration lights
16. Buy electrical appliances that use lesser electricity and have energy savings function
17. Use light color painting for wall to reduce lighting requirement
18. Most important of all. If you are not using it – Switch it OFF !
Just take the time and effort to do some of the following tips and I can assure you that your electricity bill will be at its minimal.
