Happy New Year!

As we come into 2009, you may be looking back and 2008 and saying one of three things to yourself.

“What a fantastic year 2008 was!”… or “2008 could have been better for me…” or “2008 was the worst year of my entire life!”

Whatever you may be thinking about 2008 - it’s over and now time to start a new year and try to make it a great one! So, unless you want to be saying 1 year from now…”What the heck happened to me in 2009!?” You might want to start thinking more deeply…

So, what have you resolved to do this year?

If you’re like most people….New Year’s resolutions come and go. Depending on the survey or study you consult, around 50% of Americans make New Years Resolution and about 15% of them actually last more than a couple months. Not a very reliable means of getting something done is it?

But you are not like most people or you wouldn’t be reading this blog post right?

This year, instead of making resolutions that last no more than a couple days, consider a new strategy.

Here are Five Not So Typical Financial Resolutions…Be Careful as They May Change Your Life :)…

1. Resolve to make a change when you need it and not to wait for a special day like New Years, next Monday, the first of the month or the second full moon in March, to make that change you know you need to make.

When you feel as if things aren’t working out the way you’d like them to, say for example you’d like to save more money, instead of saying to yourself – “I’ll save more money after I take that vacation” or “after the Super Bowl party”, or “after my car is paid off,” sit down immediately and make a plan to save more money.

Be specific with your goals. A random, “I’d like to save more money,” is a flimsy goal just begging to be forgotten. Instead, set a specific goal and a time you intend to attain your goal by. “I’d like to save $5,000 by April,” is much more specific.

Make it positive – we’re talking about a statement that implies success here. For example, “I’m going to save $5,000 by April.”

You also should Create a plan of action. How are you going to save $5,000 by April? It’s not going to magically happen. You’re not going to manifest $5,000 into your savings account – we’ll maybe you could manifest 5K but in my experience manifesting takes a bit more than willing or wanting, it takes action.

Don’t get me wrong here, I strongly believe in visualization and prayer to the angels and spirits above. But you can pray all day for the tea kettle to boil, yet until you turn on the fire it probably won’t boil. So what I’m saying is do a combination of visualising as well as taking action.

An interesting thing happend to me. I made a visualzation chart about 3 years ago by just cutting out pictures of things I wanted to see happen and writing down impact words under them etc. Well, last night I looked at it and I discovered that I’d accomplished about half of the things on the chart! I thought that was pretty amazing and am now making a new one to replace the goals I’ve already met.

I will be sure to do something each day towards making those a reality as well by taking action.

2. Resolve to take advantage of opportunities as they arise. Resolve to grab a hold of those little bits of inspiration as they pop into your head. There’s an old saying that money likes speed or success likes speed. It means that if you sit on an idea or an opportunity for too long – it goes away.

Don’t wait, don’t hesitate. If you are inspired to do something or an opportunity comes your way – take action. Too often people have brilliant ideas, often while they’re sitting in traffic, having a conversation with someone, first thing in the morning before they’re fully awake or heck I’ve even had them in the shower. So what happens to those ideas?

If you’re like most, you say “I’ll have to remember that idea.” Or “I wish I could write that down.” Or maybe you do write it down, right next to the other 100 great ideas you’ve had over the past year or so.

And what happens then?

Nothing.

You don’t take action. You don’t implement your idea or even begin researching its viability.

You know what inevitably happens to all those great ideas YOU had? A month, a year, or even several years later you come across someone who is making a ton of money with that very same idea. The difference is THEY took action.

Resolve right here, right now – TODAY – to take advantage of opportunities and ideas when they come to you. Don’t write them down and save them for later, begin exploring the possibilities to make that great idea a reality.

Too many people are afraid of failure or start talking themselves out of taking action on their ideas because they think of 101 ways it wouldn’t work. Well, you will never know until you tried right? I say it is better to try something and fail, then learn from that experience than to never have tried at all. Which brings us to number three on the list…

3. Another thing happens to some people who receive inspiration or are invited into opportunities – they let fear and doubt and a general lack of faith get in the way. Resolve to shove fear and doubt aside.

Fear has a great knack for getting in the way of success. It prevents us from even trying. The real question you have to ask yourself is – “What’s the worst that could happen?” And “Do I really care if I fail the first, second or even the third time?”

Most often, the thing we fear is really quite minimal when we compare it to the potential reward and let’s not forget the reward we feel for simply trying in the first place. Instead of letting fear talk you out of something, examine the risks, assess your fears, and then determine if it’s worth it. 9 times out of 10 it is.

But what about doubt? Doubt is actually a pretty ugly word – especially when what you doubt is your ability to succeed. You weren’t born with this doubt. It crept up on you as you were growing into adulthood.

Somewhere along the way you started doubting your abilities to do certain things. Perhaps it was something someone said to you or that you overheard or perhaps it was an experience you had, regardless the effect was the same. You began to doubt yourself.

Doubting yourself sucks. Don’t do it. Rather than letting doubt get in the way of even trying, why not simply plan for success, accept that you might fail and then try and see what happens?

Wonderful things happen when you let go of fear and doubt. Resolve to make decisions based on what you can do, not what you fear or doubt. The difference may sound small but it’s a huge change and the results will not just affect your bank account – they’ll change your life.

4. Resolve to look for opportunities. Open your eyes to the possibilities. When you set a goal or state an intention, quite often people succeed simply because they are now focused on the goal. Things they didn’t notice before are now all around them.

For example, if you state an intention like “I want to see a blue balloon today,” chances are you’re going to see a blue balloon. Not because it magically appeared but because you are now looking for blue balloons – you’ve become aware of them.

The same thing happens with other goals including financial goals or success goals. As soon as you’ve set your sights on the goal or intention, all sorts of opportunities and possibilities appear to help you attain your goal.

The trick is recognizing them and taking action. Resolve to look for opportunities to help you attain your goals. They’re there just waiting for you to notice.

Opportunites have a way of finding busy people - people who get things done rather than lazy people. Why? Maybe it is the law of the universe, or maybe it is karma or maybe it is just because people who take action and jump on a good opportunity when they see one will work harder at it than someone who just expects the world on a silver platter.

So keep your eyes open and when you get that chance, take it and run with it.

5. Resolve to let go. It’s funny but sometimes when we hold a goal too closely, when it becomes too important to us, it slips through our fingers. Set your goals, make your plans to achieve them, keep your eyes open for the possibilities and then let it go.

Let go of emotional attachment to the goal and enjoy the ride. When you’re able to enjoy the path, the effort, and the eventual success or failure, their really is no downside. And more often than not, when you’re able to let go of the need to succeed, of the emotional and almost physical longing for success, success follows. It’s one of those little secrets that we know but forget because we just get so tied up in the results.

So this year when someone asks you what your New Year’s Resolutions are, and you know they will, you can tell them that you resolve not to make any resolutions. You can tell them that you live your life embracing the present and always ready to make changes as the need arises. You can tell them that you resolve to let go of fear and doubt and need. You can tell them that you’re embracing a life that looks for opportunities and takes action.

Your New Year Goal or Resolution

It is the time of the year when you start wondering what have you achieved from the goal you set last year. There is a high chance that only a small percentage if it has been accomplished. This is pretty normal for everyone especially the excitement whilst setting it for the new year ahead.

However, for many, the excitement slowly disappear after the initial few months and everything is back to square one. Why is it happening ? For most, the answer is procrastination. We can think and plan for our future but if we do not move our BUTT to get the things done, nothing will Change !

What is Procrastination ? It is to “defer action” but it rarely serves us well. It isn’t only about deciding Not to do or to Delay something , it also mean we have chosen to do something else of less importance. Instead of exercise, which is good for your health, you choose to watch a TV movie instead.

It causes Stress and also takes up a lot of energy because you subconsciously know that something needs to be done and you’re not doing it. Procrastination is only a habit and a habit can always be Changed. First and foremost, you must asked yourself if there is a need for you to change.

Grab hold of a Self-improvement that teaches you how you can change your Procrastination habit into an Action Habit after you have written your new resolution or Goal for the New Year, 2009

Always remember, your goal should not be too great that it seems impossible to achieve but it should be big enough until your heart beats slightly faster after reading it. Supply Of Informations To Generate Money

Is it really possible for anyone to supply informations so that money can be generated on the web ? That is a question which I hope will be answered in the next few months. Many people are now flocking into the Internet World to look for opportunities that will make money because the world is now in a recession. My worry though is that, will anyone be interested to buy anything at all ?

However, after careful considerations, I think its still worthwhile to give it a try. Anyway, if I don’t do anything about it, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN !

So, how can anyone possibly supply informations and as a result make money out of it ? I believe its a matter of choosing the right subject to explore on. Perhaps, a niche that you are really strong at such as Dog Grooming, Fishing, Project Management etc etc

For me, I would like to share my knowledge about Computer related matter which I have accumulated over the years ( almost 25 years ) and hoping that someone, somewhere can benefit out of it. Perhaps, from this gesture of goodwill, I will receive some form of remuneration from the eBooks or Affiliate programs that I hope to market someday.

That’s a tough question which I have been asking for the past months. What is the purpose of getting more traffic for any particular website ? It all depends on the message being sold by the webmaster or the owner themselves. Some do it to generate awareness on the contents they are providing, some do so for the sake of marketing products or services so that they can make money out of it.

Scour the web today and you can find all kind of web contents : educational, instructional, marketing, soliciting services, hobbies and what-have-you. Some of these messages looks ridiculous to you but it can be useful for someone else somewhere in this world. In order to constantly attract others to visit your site, you must be able to append interesting Contents so that people will long to read it each time its posted.

There are many gurus out there who can teach you how to increase traffic to your website for Free or for a Fee ( via ebook sales that can be so extremely hyped up that it make you go on a impulse buying spree ). Naturally as a beginner in this industry, I do fell into their traps but, as time goes by, I will know whether they are authentic just by reading some of the claims they made on their really Long Sales Page.

As I explore how to make this website attractive enough to draw traffic, I also learnt that it is not as simple as claimed by many. The most important factor after all is still the Passion in what I am doing. Do I have what it takes to keep on modifying the contents that will eventually bring the crowds here ? Do I start to lose interest after months of inactivity or lack of subscribers ? As for me, I have learned not to be bother by these setbacks. I just keep adding articles like I am talking to my Internet friends on the web, Sooner or later, someone will like my site so much that they refer it to their friends or subscribers.

This whole situation is similar to Network Marketing whereby the going seems futile during the initial months but with perseverance and believe, the result will eventually be more sweeter than expected.

I am in the midst of exploring a Sub-Domain where I will focus on a Single topic : ” Becoming A Freelance Computer Service Support Specialist “. I am learning to generate those Web pages from Scratch and Appending informations relating to this subject matter. I believe that all my friends, relatives and customers whom I have known all these years will be able to visit it and learn a thing or two. If I prepare some informations daily for these web pages on a daily basis, I know I will have enough informations to write a book. Its whether I am willing to take that first step or not. Despite all the strong protest or comments on the daily newspaper, the company is adamant that it will go ahead as planned. This means everyone of us will be forking out extra money to pay for the bill.

In today’s society, a large percentage of students and working adults are computer literate. They use a computer for projects or work-related functions in one way or another. As the society becomes more affluent, more people are relying on computer to solve their daily needs.

You can practically do anything on the web as long as you have a computer with a broadband feature that links you to the world. People are shopping, trading, gambling, studying, stealing, sabotaging and doing all sorts of activities via the net.

Naturally, there is also a group of people who are scouring the web for opportunities to make money. Some of them are so naive that they believe that money can be made vulgarly in just a few days or weeks. They are easily misled by the over-hype Sales Article that these webmasters have posted on their websites. They are usually the earlier victim who part with their money unnecessarily and after a short period of time, screaming that Internet Marketing business is not feasible, or a scam or not-doable ( does it sound familiar ? just like those who comment about the MLM or Networking business )

There is also another group of people who thinks that just by starting a blog ( which you can do for FREE ) and selling some high priced advertising space to rich companies is enough to make them rich.

Yes, blogging is big on the Internet at the moment but you won’t be making millions by starting your own blog. Generating Money From The Web

It was a very tiring fortnight as I was extremely engrossed in studying if there is really a way to generate money from the web. I begun my journey by searching for certain keywords such as “Making Money”, “Quick Income” or “business opportunities” when doing a Google search. Without surprise, a list will be present with the right hand corner indicating a minimum of 4 Million results available, I have actually seen some keywords with results as much as 980,000,000 ( Oh my god ! ) It will take a lifetime just to browse through them !

What I am doing is very common today as more and more people are seeking for better ways to make money due to much uncertainties that the future has for them. Some blindly assume that the opportunities presented on the web are believable or true.

After 2 weeks of reading and seeking answer in Forum, I have reach a point where I must really FOCUS on what exactly I want to make it workable. What I found out about the web is so overwhelming that it chills my bone.

There are sooooooo many SCAM artists with fascinating website and fantastically drawn out Sales Pitch to lure those “greenhorns” to take up the offer they are providing. Some of these programs that they were providing are beyond rational and I am not surprise that many people still get conned into purchasing the products or program. I know because I was a Victim before !

I might be slightly more street-smart now but that does not mean I will not fell into another trap as these Scam artists can always craft out another extremely well written program for the web.

There are some tell tale sign that will make me quit a website so fast like a roadrunner on the highway. They are :

Claims that you can make $1000 or more a day / Few Hundreds Thousands in a week or month
Claims that they are millionaire with big house and sport car at the background of photo with little work done
Claims that they have the “secret formula” that will make you equally successful and fast too
Claims that the product is FREE ( read the Merchant Page really carefully ! ) but charges a Monthly Fee !
Claims that the offer will expire during the next few hours and the price will increased after that

Like someone said ” If the offer is too good to be true, then it probably IS”

If you are really tempted to buy the product, you can do the following :

Write to the product owner and clarify all the questions you might have
If you don’t get any reply after 2 tries ….. DUMP IT !
Find a forum on the same subject ( e.g. Forex Trading ) and ask around for clues on this program

With all said, there are some really reliable sources out there on the web that we can tapped on. I intend to create a Page with all these Links so that it benefit all the readers of GenerateSurplus.Com to find ways of generating money from the web.

Never Take Rejection As Face Value

In business, we all face rejections one way or another everday but there are many who are affected very badly by it. It is quite fascinating why another person opinion can have an impact on their life.

A rejection should never be taken at face value.

For all we know, the person who seems to be rejecting us could be faking it. Reason being, he or she is too ashamed to admit that they don’t understand what we are talking about, so to “save face” and not appear ignorant or naive, they could simply say “No, I’m not interested in what you are proposing.”

They could also be preoccupied with other thoughts at that moment and could not fully concentrate on what you were saying. The list of reasons is endless of why a person’s first reaction to us may be something less than positive, and it is wise to give people a second, or even a third, chance to accept the idea we are
proposing to them.

The average person is more of a pessimist than an optimist as such we must break this barrier. We must break through to a higher level in life, relationships, or business, we must break free from the thinking that holds us down to the level of average, or even below average, perception.

The majority of new people we encounter are going to be more prone to see only the limitations of life rather than the great possibilities of life. ” Rejection is an interesting thing. None of us like it, so most people try to avoid it. But if we avoid rejection, we are also simultaneously avoiding success ”

Do not allow ourselves to become too dependent on needing the approval of others. Be a thermostat rather than a thermometer ( e.g. Fixed Goal ) It is important to learn the art of “mastering the mundane”. This means that you have the ability to say the same exact words and paint the same exact picture of your vision or opportunity hundreds, or even thousands, of times to different people and still keep your strong passion and deep conviction flowing with every word you speak. You may have said those words so many times that you don’t even have to think about what you are going to say anymore. This will allow you to put your full concentration on creating the greatest possible dynamics in your presentation.

Truth is always our objective. Excuses are one of the favorite techniques people use when they are trying to avoid committing to any idea or plan that will improve their lives.

My 10 Commandments of Trading

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the perfect system for investing probably doesn’t exist. Still, there are systems that work a good percentage of the time. One way to find a good one is to watch successful investors and follow their lead. Today, I’m going to give you a sneak peek at one of those good systems: my own.
It may surprise you to learn that I wasn’t always aware that I had a “system.” I discovered it when I was developing my new trading program for ETR. The program is designed to teach everyone - from beginners to experienced investors - how to trade. And before I could put it together, I had to analyze the procedure I use when making my own trading decisions.
One thing I realized is that I have developed several “rules” that have helped me make significant gains over the years. For instance, there are 10 trading principles that I use to guide my trading.
1. Stick to your guns.
2. Be diligent.
3. Don’t be a one-way trader.
4. Don’t have personal attachments to your trades.
5. Don’t think it has to be complicated to work.
6. Do your homework.
7. Trade what you see.
8. Breathe in, breathe out, move on.
9. View each trade independently.
10. Don’t follow the crowd.
If you are an experienced trader, I encourage you to either develop your own set of trading principles or adapt mine to fit your style. If you are new at trading, I encourage you to start with my list. Then, as you gain experience, add to or modify it.
